Introduction
From bean to brew, the perfect cup of coffee at home is an art. At Abnoel Coffee, we believe everyone should enjoy the rich flavors of Ethiopian coffee from the comfort of their own home. Here are some pro tips for making a cup of Abnoel Coffee just as great as you can have in the coffee shop, no matter if you are a seasoned coffee drinker or just getting into it.
Choosing the Right Coffee Beans:
The beans are the root to a great cup of coffee. Start out with freshly roasted, top-quality beans, such as those from Abnoel Coffee. Our single-origin Ethiopian beans offer different flavor profiles: from the flowery and citric notes of Yirgacheffe to the bold and fruity of Harrar. Do it light, medium, or dark roast—just how you like it. Make sure to store your beans in an airtight container to keep them fresh.
Grind the Beans:
The single most important thing for flavor is to grind your coffee beans just before brewing. The grind size can be changed, but it should correspond to your preferred brewing method:
Coarse Grind: This is ideal for French press as it provides sufficient time for extraction without over-extraction of the coffee.
Medium Grind: This grind works best in a drip coffee maker and for pour-over methods. It allows balanced extraction and is hence versatile for any method of brewing.
Fine grind: Best used with espresso, as it results in short extraction and strong and concentrated coffee.
Grind with a burr grinder as it grinds uniformly, providing a balanced extraction and resulting in a balanced cup of coffee.
Water Quality and Brewing Temperature:
Quality of water used has a great impact on the flavor of coffee. Water has to be clean and filtered every time in order to avoid an unwanted flavor. The optimum brewing temperature is between 195-205°F (90-96°C). Water
